Genre
Conan for the XBOX 360 is an action adventure game set in the world of Conan from the books and movies.
Gameplay and Controls
The gameplay of Conan is fairly straight forward and typical of the God of War clone. Basically you run around bashing things heads in. You get to choose if you will cuisinarte your enemies with 2 blades, impale and smash their face in with a sword and shield, or chop their torso in half with a two handed sword. Really, who could ask for more than that? The controls are easy to get the hang of you have heavy slow attacks and light quick attacks to suite whatever style of decapitation and disembowelment you prefer. Occasionally you go through the tell tale God of War real time button pressing events where as your killing something you have to press the appropriate button for something cool or whatever comes next to happen.
Story
The story of Conan revolves around retrieving your armor. Each piece gives you a special ability. Once you have them all you have to fight the big bad boss that (duh) you let out in the first place because of your greed for GOLD! Hey, who doesn’t want more gold? It’s not a great story but it’s also not a complete garbage story, it is good enough to keep you motivated to see it to completion… but just barely.
Graphics and Sound
Graphics – I believe that the graphics are a year or so behind the times, but they are still quite good. Again, as I have said before I am not the best judge of graphics. Until creatures come out of my game in 3D and chase me around my living room and the damsels in distress come out of the machine and give me a lap dance after I save them, graphics really aren’t going to sway me one way or another. Sound is a slightly different animal. As the administrator of RPG radio, I do tend to pay more attention to the music. The music in Conan was on par with a good action adventure, it was appropriate to the game and fit well in most of the scenes and levels, I would add it to my playlist.
In conclusion I had enough fun bashing things heads in to play the game to the end.
I give it [glow=red,2,300]4/7[/glow] peices of the rod.
