Greetings,
I am Serenitee and this is my first review I am writing for a game. I just recently finished playing this game on the Ninetendo DS system and was asked to write a review. So bare with me as being an inexperienced game review writer. Here is my first review I have written below.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fate is a fantasy RPG (Role Playing Game). It is a prequel to the Crystal Chronicles. It includes real time combat along with 4 characters of which you can choose in battles or in various situations.
Story:
The story starts out with a set of twins, of which only one of them is the main person throughout the story. The story itself is basic and pretty straight forward. You have a little side adventures only after going through the moogle portion. You have 3 other characters that you get along in the story, they pretty much stay with you through most of it, with the exception of a few moments where your alone.
Game play and Controls:
As your aware, this game is played on the Ninetendo DS. The main game play is played on the upper screen and the information, stats, equipment, purchasing and some of the combat aspects are all on the bottom portion. To use some of the features on the bottom portion you need the stylus, it works a bit better than the finger tapping, although that can be debated. The stylus use, however, I just felt a lot of the time was a hindrance as you went through the game. Some puzzles in the dungeon you needed to use the stylus with a certain character. I just felt that the stylus could have been lessened in the combat aspects of the game and just used for more simple things as needed. The dungeons consisted of various puzzles, and each of these would use one of the characters special abilities. Your upgrades, armor and weapons consisted of finding or buying scrolls and combing the items needed. The main game play itself wasn't hard really, it was just a matter of working the stylus into how you handled your battles.
Graphics and Sound:
The graphics for the DS are to be pretty much expected. The characters are on the cartoony side. The movies and cut scenes are on par. The music was soothing as usual. This being a Final Fantasy game, the soundtrack was good. The opening sequence I really enjoyed watching.
Conclusion:
Overall the game was fun. It wasn't overly hard, it did have it moments that had some challenge to them. It was short though, pretty straight forward and not much in the way of side adventures unless you did the moogle stamp collection. The controls, using the stylus in particular I found bothersome really. When fighting the bosses, to switch your fingers to the stylus to tap on a character, or try to use a spell or magicite ball, etc just seemed a little sloppy. If you didn't have to do any changing it was fine and you could just attack and let the other characters do the same.
Beyond that little part, it was a fun game and I did have fun playing through it even on some of the stuck parts I got to!
I am giving it
